Get Dressed & Let's Go

In Ephesians 6:10–18, the Apostle Paul concludes his letter with a powerful reminder that the Christian life is lived in the midst of a spiritual battle. Our struggle is not merely against human opposition or earthly circumstances, but against spiritual forces that seek to oppose the work of God in the lives of His people. Because of this reality, believers are called not to rely on their own strength, but to “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.”

Paul uses the imagery of armor to illustrate how God equips His people to stand firm. Each piece—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit—represents spiritual realities grounded in the finished work of Christ and applied through faith. These are not merely virtues to pursue but gifts of grace that enable believers to resist deception, remain steadfast in trials, and proclaim the gospel with confidence.

This passage reminds the church that spiritual vigilance is essential. Through prayer, dependence on God’s Word, and a life rooted in the gospel, believers are strengthened to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. The armor of God ultimately points us to Christ Himself, who has already secured the victory and equips His people to live faithfully in light of it.
